White Mans Burden
White mans burden was caused basically by the white man feeling the need to spread religion, medicine, and law to the people without these. Missionaries would go out and spread these things, even if the group of people did not want to have these things. Rudyard Kipling went out and expressed his feeling for the white mans burden. He felt that missionaries had to help out little civilizations of people who were religiously and technologically challenged. He felt these people were some what barbaric, as stated “Half-devil and half-child.” These people were uncivilized and need the help of the white man to get better. This was their opinion of Rudyard Kipling, one of the main supporters of the white mans burden.
